Stripped of it’s drum machine pulse and euphoric build, the relatively low key edit by Parisian group Night Riders leaves singer Ruth Radelet locked in a state of inertia, her voice left to roam alone against the alien-sounding throb of synthesiser. With less focus on forward momentum, and greater emphasis on her sullen tone, lines like “In my mind I was waiting for change, while the world just stayed the same” feel more like sorrowful regrets than empowering statements of individualism, as translates in the original.

Toro Y Moi-“Dead Pontoon”
We’re totally into Toro Y Moi’s old/new sound at WGRE. His new album June 2009 consists of songs written and recorded in 2009. Very lo-fi. Sounds a little Ariel Pink-ish at times, but still has that Toro Y Moi feel.
